ASHTANGA YOGA

Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional system of Yoga from the South of India and the teaching method is called "Mysore Style", whose main characteristic is flow (vinyasa), and to respect the individuality of each practitioner.
The student from the beginning of his practice is accompanied by the teacher and his progression is based on the individual limits of the body, the breathing and how the practice is internalized mentally and energetically. Mysore Style is an IDEAL method for beginners and for all levels of practitioners because there is no collective rhythm where the student has to adapt to a group or to a count. The teacher will guide each student individually along a series of poses, giving him time to assimilate the poses learned, so that gradually his practice can be done at the rhythm of his breath and in silence. The coordination of movement with breath (Vinyasa), techniques of internalization of awareness (Drishtis), and expansion of vital energy (Bandhas), when integrated form the three essential aspects in this practice (Tristana). When assimilated, they produce an internal heat that will make the body purify and detoxify, and the mind will become clearer and calm, able to meditate. |

Vinyasa is a method of Hatha Yoga Yoga style where every movement is synchronized with the breath. The quality of the breath is the core of all poses and moviments. All the body is approached with an integrative vision but also each class, each sequence, focus on a particular area to be released. The classes comprises breathing techniques, relaxation and meditation. VINYASA FLOW Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic Yoga style where every movement is synchronized with the breath, creating a moving meditation. Classes to recovery, and re-connect with ourselves. Slow movements, poses supported by props/materials, allowing the body to open, release, relax, gradually and naturally, harmonizing the effects of stress and intense physical or mental activity. The emotions express themselves and the mind finds a peaceful state. These classes prepare us to deep relaxation and meditation. |
YOGA FOR CHILDRENYoga is a fun and non-competitive activity that helps children and teenagers to get to know their body, their minds and their emotions better, helping them to understand and accept themselves, and the universe that surrounds us.
Through the practice of the yoga poses, breathing exercises, concentration games, meditation techniques, deep relaxation, involving always group activities, and lots of fun, yoga for children and teenagers has the goal of having a quality time for themselves, developing their physical, mental and emotional potentialities, promoting self-confidence, concentration, creativity, and a higher level of consciousness about themselves and the universe. |

PRENATAL YOGAPrenatal Yoga is a traditional yoga practice composed of a mixture of asanas, prānāyāma and specific relaxation techniques, brought together to take the pregnant woman to a stage of balance, self-awareness, physical strength and mental peace. Yoga brings calm, strength and balance to the pregnancy adventure and the classes adapt Yoga postures to suit each stage of pregnancy.
Yoga means union within us, with our soul and with the supreme soul, in pregnancy the concept of union and bound is extended to the life growing inside the mum, therefore to the baby soul; but not only, also with the intention of uniting more women who are in the same phase of their lives, a moment that is so special and transformative but sometimes challenging. |

deepening hatha yoga classesIn these classes we delve deeper into the various Hatha Yoga techniques, such as kriyas, asanas, pranayama, mantra, meditation and vedanta (teaching tradition) to enter deeper into the experience of Being, towards moksa - freedom, a change of the vision of oneself.
It is an integrated and multidisciplinary path of purification, self-knowledge and spirituality. These classes are in Portuguese and for students who have been practicing yoga with Joana regularly for at least two years, as well as teachers. *** Monthly/quarterly membership required. cycles of study of VEDANTAManaging Life is different from Living Life. To really live our lives to the full, we have to know who we essentially are, what the world is, the connection between the two, and with that which transcends us, the ultimate goal of the Yoga path, which is beautifully portrayed in the Vedas.
When we were little, we were taught to think about maths, our mother tongue, to behave, to explore our body's potential, our creativity, but we were never taught about this "I", who we are in essence, the one that already existed even before I was given a name. All machines come with an instruction manual, but not us! This "I" is peace, it's complete, free from want, eternal, and that's why I need to know myself in order to live a truly Free and Full life. With the experience of this knowledge, difficulties do not cease to arise in life, but they no longer have the capacity to "rob" us of this peace, this greater vision of ourselves and the universe. This is the purpose of Vedānta classes. |
