Course on Corrections and Adjustments in Yoga
Correcting and adjusting in Yoga is an art.
It requires the teacher to listen, observe, and truly understand what is unique and specific to each student. In Yoga, a purposeful physical adjustment holds extraordinary power: it can provide instant stability, create space where there was tension, direct energy flow, and teach a student’s body to tap into its own anatomical intelligence.
Conversely, a poorly executed adjustment can have the opposite effect—triggering defensiveness, discomfort, or a sense of insecurity. Therefore, the essential question is not just how to adjust, but rather why to adjust, when the right moment is, and how and where to intervene.
It is with great joy that we announce our new practical workshop:
A Course on Corrections and Adjustments in Yoga.
This course is designed not only for teachers but also for practitioners who wish to elevate their practice to a higher level of awareness.
What you will learn during this practical day, led by Joana and Rita:
👁️ Body Reading: Identifying compensations and understanding the bio-individuality of each body.
🤲 Verbal and Hands-on Adjustments: Techniques for standing and seated poses, twists, supine postures, inversions, and more. You will learn how to apply corrections and alignments, and how to discern when a physical adjustment is necessary versus when verbal instruction is more effective.
🛡️ Safety and Biomechanics: Applying safe leverage without overloading the joints, along with other key principles.
🧘 Intelligent Use of Props (Blocks, Straps, Blankets): Adapting postures to accommodate varying levels of mobility, strength, and flexibility.
